World Impact with AquAid Tyne Wear Tees

How You Can Have A World Impact

Clean water locally and life-changing support globally

At AquAid Tyne Wear Tees, we believe that access to clean water should never be a privilege. It should be something every person, everywhere, can rely on. That belief drives not only the services we provide across the North East, but also the life-changing global work we help make possible through our charity partnerships.

Every time you choose a water cooler from Aquaid Tyne Wear Tees, you support essential clean water and community development projects in some of the world’s poorest regions. This support comes at no extra cost to our customers, yet it transforms thousands of lives.

Supporting Hydration Across the North East

As one of the largest suppliers of drinking water solutions to schools and businesses in the region, Aquaid Tyne Wear Tees helps tens of thousands of children, staff and visitors stay hydrated every single day.

Our local mission is simple: provide safe, high-quality drinking water and exceptional service to our communities across Tyneside, Wearside, Teeside, Durham and North Yorkshire.

But your choice creates impact far beyond the North East.

Together We Save Lives

Since AquAid Tyne Wear Tees first opened its doors in 1998, the organisation has donated over £19 million to water, sanitation and poverty-reduction projects across Africa. More than 3.5 million people now have access to clean, safe drinking water because of this ongoing commitment.

By choosing Aquaid Tyne Wear Tees, you directly contribute to this impact. With every 19-litre bottle of water supplied, and every mains-fed water dispenser installed, donations are made to our charity partners—helping to bring opportunity, dignity and clean water to communities in need.

The Africa Trust

Sustainable change that empowers communities

Founded by AquAid in 2010, The Africa Trust focuses on long-term, sustainable solutions to break the cycle of poverty. Instead of offering short-term aid, it empowers communities to build better futures through:

  • Clean water projects
  • Sanitation and hygiene solutions
  • Education support
  • Business skills training
  • Income-generating initiatives
  • Support for clinics, orphanages and community programmes

Elephant Pumps

One of The Africa Trust’s most successful projects is the Elephant Pump—a durable, easy-to-maintain and well designed for rural African communities.

Thanks to ongoing support from AquAid branches, including Aquaid Tyne and Wear, over 5,000 Elephant Pumps have been built across Africa, providing clean water to thousands of families every day.

Your support helps fund:

  • 40p donation for every bottle of water supplied

  • £20 donation every year for every mains-fed cooler installed

Each pump provides a safe, nearby water source that often allows children—especially girls—to attend school rather than walk long distances to collect water.

Testimony from a young beneficiary —

“I want to thank you very much for the Elephant Pump in our community. It is so nice and easy for us now to fetch water. As a girl in my family I used to walk 1 km to fetch water, but now I go to school early after collecting water from the new pump.”

Christian Aid

Helping communities grow stronger and build better futures

AquAid has supported Christian Aid for more than 15 years, contributing over £3.7 million to water and development projects.

Through this partnership, AquAid customers help support initiatives such as:

  • Construction of wells
  • Irrigation systems
  • Water filtration programmes
  • Improved sanitation
  • Capacity-building and training
  • Agricultural development projects

Current Project: Pigeon Pea Farming in Malawi

In Malawi, AquAid’s support is helping more than 3,300 smallholder farming families become more resilient and financially secure. Christian Aid and AquAid work together to help farmers:

  • Increase income by processing peas into higher-value products
  • Access better markets and negotiate fair prices
  • Store crops safely until prices peak
  • Improve business and financial skills
  • Access affordable finance through community savings and loans groups
  • Start small businesses to diversify household income

These projects help families build long-term stability, reduce poverty and create opportunity for generations to come.

Your Choice Makes a Difference

Whether you are a school, business, charity or public sector organisation, choosing AquAid Tyne Wear Tees means more than reliable water solutions. It means becoming part of a much bigger effort to bring clean drinking water, education and opportunity to communities where it is needed most.

If you value our ethos but are not yet a customer, we would love to speak to you about how your workplace can help support these projects simply by choosing us as your hydration provider.
